Bedroom Interior Designers in Nairobi: A Better Brief for Rest and Storage

Planning a bedroom in Nairobi? Ask your interior designer about layout, storage, light, privacy and the services included in your quote.

For a bedroom design, start with your bed, wardrobe contents and morning routine so the layout supports rest as well as storage.

Start with the bed and movement

Measure the mattress, bed frame, wardrobe depth, doors and route to the window. Ask the designer to show movement around the bed and how wardrobe doors or drawers will open. If you need a cot, dressing area or desk, include it before approving the layout.

Be specific about storage

List hanging clothes, folded items, shoes, bedding and luggage. For custom joinery, approve the internal fittings, door type, final measurements and finish samples before fabrication.

Show which items you reach every day and which you store seasonally. Ask the designer to label shelves, drawers and hanging sections on the drawing so the finished wardrobe suits what you own.

Discuss comfort and light

Describe privacy, daylight and the bedside charging, reading light or blackout curtains you need. Ask whether the fee includes measured drawings, sourcing or installation, and separate immediate work from later purchases. Obtain building approval and use qualified trades for electrical changes.

Check that the window treatment gives the privacy and darkness you want, and that switches and charging points remain reachable from the bed. Ask the designer to show those choices on the plan before the electrician or joiner starts.
