Before you hire an apartment interior designer in Nairobi, check the building rules and measure the route your furniture must take into the flat.
Check the building constraints first
Ask the landlord or property manager about written approvals, working hours, lift bookings, drilling, deliveries and waste removal. Rules differ by building, so confirm them for your own apartment before scheduling work.
Ask for a layout you can use
Agree who will verify the room measurements. Measure the entrance, corridor, lift and stair turns as well as the rooms; a sofa that fits the living room may not fit through the door. Ask for a dimensioned plan and confirm item sizes before ordering made-to-measure joinery. If you rent, identify changes you can reverse when you move.
Make the budget and permissions visible
Ask whether the proposal includes measured drawings, finish selections, supplier quotations and site visits, or whether you will arrange those separately. Check that the budget identifies design fees, materials, labour, delivery and installation so you can choose what to do now and what can wait.
Before work starts, agree the room sequence, who will manage lift bookings and deliveries, how the team will protect occupied areas and how you will record unfinished items. Ask for a simple schedule showing when you must approve drawings, samples and product sizes.
