Interior designers are not decorators placed at the end of a project to beautify a finished shell. Interior designers are essential built environment professionals. We shape the spaces where families gather, patients heal, children learn, businesses grow, guests are welcomed, communities interact and human life unfolds.

A building may be structurally complete, but without thoughtful interior planning, it may fail in its most important purpose - serving people.

Interior design affects safety, comfort, accessibility, wellness, productivity, identity, sustainability and quality of life. It influences how people move, feel, work, heal, learn, rest and interact within spaces. This is why IDAK exists.

We exist to unite interior designers under one strong professional voice. We exist to advocate for recognition, regulation and respect. We exist to protect the public by promoting competent, ethical and responsible practice. We exist to educate society that interior design is not a luxury, but a profession of public value, economic importance and human impact.

IDAK is committed to ensuring that interior designers are recognized as key stakeholders in construction and project development. We believe interior designers must be involved from the earliest stages of a project, working alongside architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, developers, manufacturers, suppliers and policy makers.

When interior designers are excluded, projects risk poor functionality, costly redesigns, weak user experience, unsuitable materials, inefficient layouts and reduced value. When interior designers are included, buildings become more functional, more human-centered, more sustainable, more commercially viable and more meaningful.

IDAK is also building a wider ecosystem for the entire interior design industry. Our vision includes professionals, students, design firms, manufacturers, suppliers of building materials, furniture companies, lighting brands, decor businesses, contractors, developers, institutions and international partners.
